Message safety boost - that is all that would be affected as it was running a TT program. The NA ECU doesn't have the circuitry to control the wastegate solenoid line and that is the only difference between the NA and TT ECU electronically. I've run an NA ECU in my car since the conversion - there is still one in there today. Since I have a boost controller this doesn't pose any problems. In his case it posed a problem because he wasn't using a BC, but this is the only problem that will exist as a result.

When the owner brought his ECU to us to have us look at it, it was noted that the ECU was a non-turbo ECU. I pointed it out to him and even showed him where the circuits were missing. What you are failing to recognize is that even though the car was only running 7psi of boost, it was still running in the normal maps. So your theory about it being because of the richness of the fuel maps has now gone out the window, not to mention the fact the argument was unfounded to start as a slightly richer mixture isn't going to make a rod bearing fail. The only reason it was running 7psi was because it didn't have the circuits to open the wastegate solenoids, NOT because it was running in safety mode.

Regardless of whether or not your statement was 'what you think' or 'what you know to be the only absolute unarguable truth' is inconsequential. Your statement leads one to believe that the AshSPEC safety mode's richer fuel delivery was the only cause of this problem while you fail to mention any of the other pieces of evidence that you are now putting forth. I think it is bad presentation on your part - and dont be so quick to jump at me as I'm simply defending our product with hard, factual data to back it up.

If it is a rod bearing, that is very easily determined. You dont need to take it apart to figure that one out - it will just knock all to hell and back. I dont know the exact story on this car or what symptoms it has right now, but at this point I really do want to know. Seeing that people are so quick to conclusively state a problem on the ECU's account without further investigation is ridiculous. I could search the forum and find a multitude of cars that have blown engines running the JWT program but I'm not about to start saying it is the JWT program that was the cause. For that matter, my engine blew once with the JWT program in it and it was later found to be as a result of a valvestem seal installation foul-up by the machinist.

The fact is, engines will wear out and they will fail - it is a function of their use. Fortunately I dont see Chip jumping up and down calling out on the ECU as I know he has a good idea of what the ECU does and what it doesn't. I also think he will determine the cause of the problem as well as have the ability to correct it and I look forward to seeing the results myself.

I guess all I am asking of you is to tread lightly - thankz!
